Bukhara Heritage Tour
Ark Citadel, Poi Kalon and the winding old town bazaars.
The Samarkand Classic Tour is one of our most beloved itineraries, designed to immerse you fully in the extraordinary beauty and history of one of the world's oldest cities. Founded over 2,700 years ago, Samarkand was the heart of the Silk Road — a crossroads where East met West and where great civilizations left their mark.
Over five remarkable days, you will stand before the iconic Registan Square and its three towering madrasahs adorned with brilliant blue tiles. You will wander through the Shah-i-Zinda necropolis, walk past the majestic Bibi-Khanym Mosque, and explore the Gur-e-Amir — the mausoleum of Tamerlane himself.
Throughout the tour, your expert English-speaking guide will bring each monument to life with stories of conquerors, scholars, merchants and artists who shaped the city's legendary reputation. Accommodation is arranged in carefully selected hotels that balance comfort and character.
Day 1
Your guide meets you at Tashkent International Airport and assists with a comfortable transfer to Samarkand by high-speed train (Afrosiyob). Upon arrival, check in to your hotel. In the evening, enjoy a welcome dinner with traditional Uzbek cuisine and an orientation walk along the city's main boulevard.
Day 2
Morning visit to the magnificent Registan Square with its three madrasahs. Your guide explains the intricate tilework, calligraphy and history of each structure. Continue to Bibi-Khanym Mosque — once the largest mosque in the Islamic world — and explore the ancient Siab Bazaar. Afternoon visit to the Shah-i-Zinda necropolis.
Day 3
Visit the Gur-e-Amir Mausoleum — the resting place of Tamerlane. Explore the Ulugh Beg Observatory, where the great astronomer-king mapped the stars in the 15th century. In the afternoon, visit a traditional Uzbek paper workshop in the village of Konigil and try your hand at making Samarkand paper.
Day 4
Full-day excursion to Shakhrisabz, the birthplace of Tamerlane, 80 km from Samarkand. Visit the ruins of Ak-Saray Palace, Dorus-Saodat complex and the beautiful Kok-Gumbaz Mosque. Return to Samarkand in the evening for a farewell dinner at a rooftop restaurant overlooking the blue domes.
Day 5
After breakfast, enjoy a free morning for last-minute shopping at the Siab Bazaar or a stroll through the city. Your guide transfers you to the airport or train station for your onward journey. We hope Samarkand has left an impression that will last a lifetime.
